The steel sword is a low level weapon in Old School RuneScape. It is made of steel and is stronger than the iron sword. You only need level 5 Attack to wield it, so it is a good pick for new players and fresh accounts.
This sword works best with stab attacks. It has a +11 stab bonus, a +8 slash bonus, and a +12 strength bonus. It is also fast, hitting once every 2.4 seconds. You can train Attack, Strength, or Defence by switching combat styles, and every style also gives Hitpoints experience.
The steel sword matters for quests too. You need two steel swords for the In Search of the Myreque quest, along with some other steel gear. Having them ready saves time.
Players can also make this sword at level 34 Smithing. It takes one steel bar and an anvil, and it gives 37.5 Smithing experience. That makes it a handy item for training the skill as well as for fighting.
