Description
The tomato seed is a Farming seed in Old School RuneScape. You need level 12 Farming to plant it. Plant 3 seeds in one allotment patch to grow tomato plants. The plants take 40 minutes to grow, and each patch yields tomatoes, a food item used in Cooking.
Planting gives 12.5 Farming XP. Each tomato you harvest gives 14 XP. A patch has at least 3 harvest lives, and compost can raise this up to 6 with ultracompost. Magic secateurs boost your yield chance by 10% when equipped or in your inventory.
You can pay a nearby gardener 2 sacks of cabbages to watch your tomato plants. A grown marigold or white lily in a nearby flower patch also protects them from disease.
Tomatoes have more uses in Farming. Baskets of tomatoes protect growing Yanillian hops, cadavaberry bushes, and oak trees. This makes tomato seeds handy for players training the skill.
The tomato seed is a members-only item. It is tradeable and stackable, so it takes up little bank space. It is a solid low-level pick for easy Farming XP on your OSRS account.
