Description

Apex hide is a members item in RuneScape 3. It drops from Big Game Hunter encounters in Havenhythe. Every giant kebbit and giant chinchompa there drops hides, with amounts from 9 to 18 per kill based on the creature. It was added to the game on 23 March 2026 with the Havenhythe continent.

The hide is the first step in making apex leather. Players can tan it with a Tanner, with Sbott, or with the Make Leather spell, which turns 28 hides into leather at once. The leather is then used to craft apex hide armour at level 100 Crafting.

Apex hide armour is tier 85 to tier 90 ranged tank armour. It does not degrade, so it never needs repair. The set has five pieces and can be upgraded from base to +5. A full set from base through +5 takes 384 apex leather, so players need a large stock of hides.

Buying apex hide saves hours of hunting. Getting hides in game needs level 96 or 98 Hunter and gives about 425 to 595 hides per hour. The item is tradeable and stackable, so it is easy to hold in bulk.
