Description
The Ascension shard is a stackable and tradeable item in RuneScape 3. It is a large chunk of crystal that drops from monsters inside the Monastery of Ascension. Players want these shards because they are a key part of making some of the best ranged gear in the game.
You need 100 shards to make an ascension crossbow or its off-hand version. This also takes a dragon crossbow and all six ascension signets. At level 90 Fletching, shards can be fletched into ascension bolts. At level 92 Fletching, 25 shards can be used with one set of Ancient bones at a player-owned port workbench. This makes a set of 25 Death lotus darts or their off-hand version.
Shards drop from every monster in the Monastery of Ascension. Rorarius drops 1, Gladius drops 3 to 4, Capsarius drops 1 to 2, and Scutarius drops 6 to 9. The six Legio bosses each drop 16 to 24 shards every kill. Since the shards stack, they are easy to hold in large amounts. Buying Ascension shards saves you many hours of grinding kills in the monastery.
