Description

Banded limestone is an Archaeology material in RuneScape 3. It is a rock with bright, colourful bands. Players need level 52 Archaeology to collect it. It is members-only, tradeable, and noteable, and it fits in the material storage container.

This material comes from material caches at the Moonrise - Temple periphery excavation site at the Moonrise Dig Site. You need to finish the Secrets of Amberfell quest to dig there. It also drops from spots like lunar wheel debris, shrine debris, cauldron debris, and mossy peat. Ancient caskets can hold 100 at once.

Banded limestone is used to restore artefacts for Archaeology experience. The wolf statuette needs 26 and the lunar calendar needs 28. Higher level artefacts use it too, like the incense burner, offering bowl, reagent jar, and Ninbaradari mural. These restores give from 1,773.3 to 7,777.8 XP each.

Buying banded limestone saves time. Digging it up by hand is slow, since each cache respawns 90 seconds after it runs dry. With a stack ready to go, players can restore artefact after artefact and train Archaeology much faster.
