Barley malt is a Cooking ingredient in RuneScape 3. It is used for brewing, which is a part of the Cooking skill. Players make barley malt by cooking barley on a range at Cooking level 1, and each one gives 1 XP.

Barley malt matters because every type of ale needs it. To brew an ale, a player goes to a brewing vat in Keldagrim or Port Phasmatys. They add two buckets of water, then two barley malt, then the main ingredient and ale yeast. Without barley malt, no ale can be made.

Barley malt has a use in Farming too. Players can pay a farmer 6 barley malt to protect a jute patch from disease.
