Description

The bird snare is a Hunter item in RuneScape 3. It is used to catch birds in Hunter areas. It needs no bait, and you can use it at level 1 Hunter. It is a free-to-play item that can be traded.

To use it, set the snare where birds fly. When a bird lands on it, the snare may catch it. Each catch gives bones, raw bird meat, and coloured feathers. The feathers can be used in Fishing or Fletching. Most of the Hunter XP comes from taking the loot from a successful snare.

The snare can catch six birds. These are the crimson swift at level 1, golden warbler at level 5, copper longtail at level 9, cerulean twitch at level 11, tropical wagtail at level 19, and wimpy bird at level 39. Each bird drops its own feather colour, and higher level birds give more XP. A higher Hunter level also gives a better catch rate.

Watch your traps, because they fall over if left alone too long. If a snare falls with a bird inside, the loot is lost. At level 39 Hunter, you can smoke a trap to hide your scent and catch more birds.
