The black chainbody is melee body armour in RuneScape 3. It goes in the body slot and needs 25 Defence to wear. It is tier 23 tank armour with 81 armour, plus small damage reduction of 0.46% in PvM and 1.38% in PvP. It gives no prayer bonus and no damage bonus.

This chainbody has better defence than a steel chainbody. It matches the bonuses of a white chainbody, but without the +1 prayer bonus. Like all black gear, it cannot be made with the Smithing skill, so players get it in other ways. It weighs 6.803 kg and is tradeable, noteable, and equipable. Its examine text reads "A series of connected metal rings."

The black chainbody can be disassembled for Invention. It always gives one Knightly component, with a 72.5% base junk chance. It can also give Cover parts, Plated parts, Deflecting parts, Strong components, and Protective components.

This item also matters for an Easy Falador Task. The task asks a player to get a black chainbody from Wayne's Chains in Falador and try it on in the store. It is a simple piece of gear for low level melee training or task completion.
