The rune med helm is a tier 50 melee head armour in RuneScape 3. It needs level 50 Defence to wear. It is a free-to-play item, so any player can use it. This helm is tank armour that gives 170 armour, a 500 life points bonus, 1% damage reduction against monsters, and 1.875% damage reduction in PvP. It works the same as the rune full helm and only looks different.
Players with level 50 Smithing can make this helm at a forge and anvil with 2 rune bars. Making it gives 480 Smithing experience. It can also be upgraded. Adding 2 more bars makes a rune med helm + 1 at tier 51. More bars can push it to + 2 at tier 52 and + 3 at tier 53, which has 185.6 armour.
The helm can also be taken apart with Invention. Disassembly gives 15 experience and can yield cover parts, deflecting parts, plated parts, strong components, and protective components. It is a light item at only 0.01 kg. This makes it a solid pick for mid-level melee fighters who want strong, simple head armour.
