Swordfish is a popular food item in RuneScape 3. Each one heals 1,400 life points when eaten. It is the best fish that free-to-play players can cook, and many call it the best free-to-play food in the game.

Swordfish is great for training and combat. Players use it to heal during fights, boss trips, and long skilling sessions. Because it heals a lot, it helps players stay alive longer without running back to a bank.

The fish has other uses too. Members with level 55 Herblore can add a swordfish to an unfinished harralander potion to make a cooking potion, which boosts the Cooking level by three. Members with level 55 Divination can weave it with gleaming energy to create a portent of restoration VI. Swordfish can also be disassembled, and it gives mostly Organic parts.

Catching and cooking swordfish takes time. Fishing them needs level 50 Fishing with a harpoon, and cooking them needs level 45 Cooking. They can burn until level 86 Cooking, or level 80 with cooking gauntlets. Buying swordfish skips all that work.

Swordfish is tradeable and noteable, so it is easy to store and move in bulk.
