Description

The Whetstone is a handy device in RuneScape 3 made with the Invention skill. It works like the armour stand in a player-owned house. You can use it to repair broken or degraded weapons and armour anywhere you go. Each whetstone repairs one item and is used up in the process. The repair cost is the same as using an armour stand.

A whetstone can also sharpen an unsharpened masterwork blade. This does not use up the whetstone. Sharpening a blade requires level 90 Smithing and gives 500 experience.

Making a whetstone takes Invention level 100 and the Research: Whetstone unlock. You craft it at an Inventor's workbench with 1 hammer, 5 base parts, and 5 deflecting parts. Crafting one gives 300 Invention XP. It is a members-only item.

The whetstone is tradeable and stackable, and it weighs nothing. That makes it easy to carry a few on long trips. It is a smart pick for players who fight bosses or train far from a house, since gear can be fixed on the spot without a trip home.
