Description

The Black kiteshield is a large metal shield in Old School RuneScape. You need level 10 Defence to wield it. It is a good shield for low level players who want strong melee protection without high stats.

This shield gives +17 stab, +19 slash, +18 crush, and +18 ranged defence. It has -1 magic defence, -8 magic attack, and -3 ranged attack. It has the same defensive bonuses as the white kiteshield, but without the +1 prayer bonus. It is also close to a mithril sq shield in strength.

You cannot make a Black kiteshield with the Smithing skill. This is true for all black items. In the game, it drops from monsters like Ice giants, Ice warriors, Lesser demons, Vampyre Juvinates, and Spiritual warriors.

Trimmed and heraldic versions of this shield exist as Treasure Trails rewards. These special versions have the same stats as the normal shield and only look different. The Black kiteshield weighs 5.443 kg, is equipable, and is not a members only item. It is a solid pick for new accounts, pures, and anyone training melee at low Defence levels.
