Description
Bone bolts are ammunition in Old School RuneScape. They only work with the Dorgeshuun crossbow. You need level 28 Ranged to use them. They have a ranged strength bonus of +49, weigh nothing, and stack in one inventory slot. They are also tradeable.
Bone bolts are a cheap way to train Ranged. Their strength is close to iron bolts. But the Dorgeshuun crossbow shoots faster than regular crossbows. This makes the damage per second close to a normal crossbow firing steel or even mithril bolts, based on your Ranged level. With rapid style and non-stop use, you can fire 1,500 bolts per hour.
Like other bolts, bone bolts hit harder than most arrows at the same level. The Dorgeshuun crossbow fires 0.6 seconds slower than shortbows, which balances the extra power. Bone bolts also work with Ava's devices from the Animal Magnetism quest, even though they are made of bone, not metal.
In the game, bone bolts can be bought from Nardok's Bone Weapons in the Dorgesh-Kaan mine after finishing The Lost Tribe quest. A big stack of bone bolts keeps you shooting and training without breaks.
