Description
The Earth rune is one of the four basic elemental runes in Old School RuneScape. Players use earth runes to cast earth-based combat spells from the standard spellbook. They also power many spells in other spellbooks, and they are used often in the Lunar spellbook.
Earth runes are needed for the Confuse, Weaken, and Curse spells. These spells also use body and water runes. Many players cast them because they are a cheap way to train Magic. If a player wears a staff of earth, it gives infinite earth runes for spells.
Earth runes are also part of Runecrafting. Players with level 9 Runecraft can make them at the Earth Altar, which is north-east of Varrock. Each rune essence or pure essence gives 6.5 Runecraft experience. Earth runes are also used to craft mud runes at other altars.
Earth runes stack in one inventory slot and weigh nothing, so a player can hold thousands at once. They are tradeable too. A big stack of earth runes helps mages train spells, fight monsters, and craft combination runes without stopping to make more.
