Description
The fly fishing rod is a fishing tool in Old School RuneScape. It is used at fishing spots with the lure option to catch trout, salmon, and rainbow fish. Trout and salmon need feathers as bait. Rainbow fish need stripy feathers. Feathers drop often from chickens or can be bought from fishing shops.
You need Fishing level 20 to catch raw trout, which gives 50 experience. Raw salmon needs level 30 and gives 70 experience. Both fish are free-to-play. Raw rainbow fish needs level 38, gives 80 experience, and is members only.
Popular fishing spots include Barbarian Village, the Grand Tree, Seers' Village, and Shilo Village. Fly fishing gives fast experience, so it is a common way to train the Fishing skill, mainly for free-to-play players.
The rod also helps with Achievement Diary tasks. You can fish a trout at Barbarian Village for the easy Varrock Diary, fish a trout in the River Molch for the easy Kourend and Kebos Diary, and fish a salmon in Lumbridge for the medium Lumbridge Diary. Members can also buy the pearl fly fishing rod, an equipable version, from Alry the Angler for 120 molch pearls.
