Description
The lava scale is a members-only item in Old School RuneScape. It is a scale from the hide of a lava dragon. Lava dragons drop one lava scale per kill at Lava Dragon Isle in the Wilderness. Brutal black dragons also drop them, but less often.
A lava scale has no use on its own. Players grind it with a pestle and mortar to get 3 to 6 lava scale shards. A higher Herblore level gives more shards on average. At 99 Herblore, there is a 98% chance to get the most shards. Players who finish the hard Wilderness Diary get 50% more shards per scale. That means each scale can give 4, 6, 7, or 9 shards.
Lava scale shards are an ingredient for extended antifire and extended super antifire potions. These potions need levels 84 and 98 Herblore to make. Each dose uses one shard.
The lava scale is tradeable and noteable. It is not stackable and cannot be worn. It weighs 0.01 kg. It is a useful item for players who train Herblore or make antifire potions for dragon fights.
