Description

Loar remains are an item used in the Shades of Mort'ton minigame in Old School RuneScape. Players get these remains by killing loar shades around Mort'ton. The remains are tradeable and noteable, so they are easy to stack up for training.

Burning loar remains needs level 5 Firemaking. Place pyre logs on a funeral pyre, add the remains, then light the pyre with a tinderbox. Standard pyre logs give 50 Firemaking XP and 25 Prayer XP. Better pyre logs give more, up to 580 Firemaking XP and 35.6 Prayer XP with rosewood pyre logs. The hard Morytania Diary gives 50% more Prayer XP, and the elite diary gives 50% more Firemaking XP.

After each burn, a bronze shade key or some coins appear next to the pyre. There is a 79 in 100 chance to get a key. The keys can be a bronze key red, brown, or crimson. Keys open the catacombs or matching colored doors to chests with valuable items. If no key drops, players get 200 to 300 coins instead. These drops stay safe from other players for five minutes.
