Description

Marlin scales are a Herblore secondary item in Old School RuneScape. Players use them to make extended stamina potions. Each potion dose needs one scale, so a full four dose potion needs four scales.

Making extended stamina potions requires level 85 Herblore. You mix marlin scales with a stamina potion. A one dose potion gives 27.5 XP, and a full four dose potion gives 110 XP. This makes marlin scales a solid pick for training Herblore while making a useful potion.

Marlin scales come from raw marlin caught in deep sea trawling. Using a knife on a raw marlin gives three scales when the cut works. The chance of success depends on your Cooking level. It starts near 19.9% at level 1 and reaches 100% at level 99. Each cut takes 1.8 seconds and gives 2 Cooking XP, plus fine fish offcuts on a success. Cutting on a chum station or better lets you cut more marlin at once for more scales.

Marlin scales are tradeable, stackable, and noteable. They weigh nothing, so they take up almost no space. Stock up on marlin scales and skip the fishing and cutting grind.
