Description

The Monkey Tail is a rare item in Old School RuneScape. It is not a weapon or armor. It is a crafting part used to make ballistae, some of the strongest ranged weapons in the game.

With 47 Fletching, a monkey tail can be attached to an unstrung light ballista to make a light ballista. This gives 300 Fletching experience. With 72 Fletching, it can be attached to an unstrung heavy ballista to make a heavy ballista. This gives 600 Fletching experience.

Monkey tails are hard to get in the game. Demonic gorillas drop them at a rate of about 1 in 1,500. Tortured gorillas in the Crash Site Cavern drop them at 1 in 15,000. Players with level 60 Hunter can also get one at 1 in 5,000 by trapping maniacal monkeys in Kruk's Dungeon. Farming demonic gorillas takes strong gear and lots of food, since these monsters keep changing their attack styles.

Because it is so rare and is needed to craft ballistae, the monkey tail holds high value. It is popular with PvP players who want a ballista. The item is members only and tradeable, and it weighs 0.25 kg.
