Description
Oak planks are a key building material for the Construction skill in Old School RuneScape. Each plank gives 60 Construction experience when used. Players use oak planks to build many things, like furniture, storage units, dungeon features, and decorations. Their uses start at level 8 Construction and go up from there.
Oak planks are worth even more experience in some activities. One plank gives about 175 experience in novice Mahogany Homes contracts, counting the completion bonus. They also give 150 experience each when fixing broken bridges in the Hallowed Sepulchre, though that job needs mithril nails too.
Making planks yourself takes time and money. A Sawmill turns oak logs into planks for 250 coins each. The Plank Make spell needs level 86 Magic, the Dream Mentor quest, and several runes per plank. Buying oak planks skips all that work, so players can train Construction right away.
Oak planks are a members-only item. They are tradeable and noteable, but not stackable and not equipable. Each plank weighs 0.8 kg. The item came out on 31 May 2006 and has been a staple of Construction training ever since.
