The Oak shield is a wooden shield in Old School RuneScape. You need level 10 Defence to wear it. It is a good pick for new players who want extra protection early in the game.
The shield gives solid defence for its level. It has +5 stab, +6 slash, +4 crush, +1 magic, and +5 ranged defence bonuses. It has no attack bonuses. Its examine text says it is a solid oaken shield.
Players can make this shield with the Fletching skill. It takes level 27 Fletching, a knife, and two oak logs. Making one gives 50 Fletching experience. The Oak shield is also the base item for making a hard leather shield, so it is useful for training and crafting plans.
The Oak shield is tradeable and can be noted, so it is easy to move and store. It is not stackable and weighs about 3.1 kg. One also spawns on a table in the Ranging Guild. Whether you want it for early combat, Fletching training, or as a step toward a hard leather shield, the Oak shield is a simple and handy item to have.
