Description
The odium ward is a Ranged shield in Old School RuneScape. It needs 60 Defence to wield. It gives the third best Ranged Attack and Ranged Strength bonus of any shield, behind only the dragonfire ward and the twisted buckler. This makes it a strong pick for rangers who want more power without giving up their shield slot.
The ward gives +12 Ranged Attack and a +4 Ranged Strength bonus. It also gives solid defence, with +52 Ranged and +24 Magic defence bonuses. It is described as an ancient, evil shield forged by volcanic heat.
The shield is made at the Volcanic Forge in the far north-east part of the Wilderness. Players combine three shards there: odium shard 1, odium shard 2, and odium shard 3. These shards drop from the Chaos Fanatic, the Crazy archaeologist, and Scorpia.
Players can add a ward upgrade kit to change how the shield looks. This makes the odium ward (or), which is untradeable. The change can be undone, but the kit is not returned. The ward's Ranged Strength was raised from +0 to +4 in June 2021.
