Description

Opal bolts are crossbow ammo in Old School RuneScape. They are bronze bolts tipped with opal bolt tips. They are members only, tradeable, stackable, and weigh nothing. Each bolt gives a ranged strength bonus of +14.

Players can make opal bolts with the Fletching skill at level 11. Use a chisel on a cut opal to make 12 opal bolt tips. Attach the tips to bronze bolts to get 1.6 Fletching experience per tip. Each action makes 10 bolts in 1.2 seconds.

Opal bolts can also be enchanted. The spell Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Opal) needs level 4 Magic, 1 cosmic rune, and 2 air runes. It enchants 10 bolts per cast and gives 9 Magic experience. Enchanted opal bolts have a 5% chance to trigger the Lucky Lightning effect. A lightning bolt hits the target and deals extra damage equal to your visible ranged level divided by 10. With a Zaryte crossbow, the damage scales up slightly. Players who finished the Hard Kandarin Diary get a 10% higher chance for the effect, raising it to 5.5%.

Opal bolts are a cheap and useful ammo choice for low level crossbow training and combat.
