Description

Opal bolts (e) are enchanted crossbow bolts in Old School RuneScape. They are made by casting the Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Opal) spell on regular opal bolts. The spell needs level 4 Magic, 1 cosmic rune, 2 air runes, and 10 opal bolts per cast. Each cast enchants 10 bolts and gives 9 Magic experience.

These bolts have a special effect called Lucky Lightning. There is a 5% chance that a lightning bolt strikes your target and deals extra damage. The extra damage equals your visible Ranged level divided by 10. At 112 Ranged, that is 11 extra damage. With the Zaryte crossbow, the damage is a bit higher, equal to your visible Ranged level divided by 9.

Players who have finished the Hard Kandarin Diary get a 10% boost to the effect chance, raising it to 5.5%. This works all the time, even without the diary headgear equipped. The effect can also trigger even if the shot misses its accuracy roll.

Opal bolts (e) are members only. They are tradeable, equipable, and stackable, and they weigh nothing. They are a cheap way to add extra damage to low level crossbow training.
