Description
The Rune chainbody is a strong piece of body armour in Old School RuneScape. It is made from runite and is a series of connected metal rings. To wear it, a player needs at least level 40 Defence. It is a free-to-play item and it is tradeable.
This chainbody is a smart pick for players who have not finished Dragon Slayer I. The rune platebody needs that quest, but the chainbody does not. It also gives better crush defence than the platebody, so it works well against monsters that use crush attacks.
Rangers like it too. It has higher defence bonuses than the green d'hide body, and it does not lower ranged attack at all.
The stats are solid. It gives +63 stab defence, +72 slash defence, +78 crush defence, and +65 ranged defence. The only downsides are -15 to magic attack and -3 to magic defence.
Players with 96 Smithing can make one from three runite bars for 225 Smithing experience. Getting one from the marketplace skips the high skill grind and puts strong armour on your character right away.
