The rune platebody is the strongest platebody in free-to-play Old School RuneScape. It is a melee armour piece that protects your chest. To wear it, you need 40 Defence and the Dragon Slayer I quest done.
This armour gives strong defence bonuses. It has +82 stab defence, +80 slash defence, +72 crush defence, and +80 ranged defence. It gives better protection than a rune chainbody, but its crush defence is a little lower. Like all platebodies, it lowers your Magic and Ranged attack bonuses, so it fits best with melee combat.
Players with level 99 Smithing can make one at an anvil with 5 runite bars and a hammer. This gives 375 Smithing experience. It is the best platebody a player can smith. It can also be bought from Oziach in Edgeville after Dragon Slayer.
The rune platebody is needed for some hard emote clue steps in treasure trails. It is tradeable and can be noted. It has a high alchemy value of 39,000 coins. Its examine text says it provides excellent protection, and that is a fair way to sum it up.
