Description
Runite ore is a high level mining resource in Old School RuneScape. It comes from runite rocks, which need level 85 Mining to mine. Each ore gives 125 Mining experience. It is a free-to-play item, so players on any account type can use it.
Runite ore is the key ingredient for runite bars. Smelt one ore with eight coal at a normal furnace, or with four coal at the Blast Furnace. Each bar gives 50 Smithing experience. The ore can also be combined with adamantite ore and coins to make chromium ingots at level 85 Smithing.
Mining this ore yourself is slow. Runite rocks take 12 minutes to respawn, or 6 minutes in the Mining Guild. Players and bots often fight over the same rocks, so hopping between worlds is almost required to gather any real amount. Buying the ore skips all of that waiting.
Runite ore is tradeable and noteable, so it is easy to move and use. It is a smart pick for players training Smithing, making runite bars, or working toward a master clue step that involves mining runite in the Prospector kit.
