Description

The smouldering stone is a rare item in Old School RuneScape. It drops from Cerberus at a rate of 1 in 520. Hellhounds can also drop it, but the chance is much lower.

Players use the smouldering stone to upgrade dragon tools into infernal tools. It turns the dragon axe into the infernal axe, the dragon harpoon into the infernal harpoon, and the dragon pickaxe into the infernal pickaxe. Each upgrade uses one dragon tool and one smouldering stone.

Infernal tools have a 1 in 3 chance to instantly process and destroy a resource. This uses a charge and gives half of the normal experience in Firemaking, Cooking, or Smithing. Each tool starts with 5,000 charges. When the charges run out, the tool works like its dragon version again. It can be recharged with another smouldering stone or another dragon tool of that type.

You need real skill levels to make these tools, and boosts do not count. The infernal axe needs 85 Firemaking. The infernal pickaxe needs 85 Smithing. The infernal harpoon needs 85 Cooking and 75 Fishing. The upgrade is permanent, and the infernal tools cannot be traded.
