Description
The steel longsword is a razor sharp melee weapon in Old School RuneScape. It is stronger than the iron longsword but weaker than the black longsword. You only need level 5 Attack to wield it, so it is a solid pick for new players who want a quick upgrade early in the game.
This sword gives good attack bonuses. It has +14 to Slash, +9 to Stab, and a +16 Strength bonus. It also adds +3 Slash and +2 Crush to your defence. It attacks once every 3.0 seconds. You can fight with four styles: Chop, Slash, Lunge, and Block. This lets you train Attack, Strength, Defence, or all three at once.
Players with level 36 Smithing can make one at an anvil with two steel bars and a hammer for 75 Smithing experience. It can also be bought at the Varrock Swordshop, dropped by Kalphite workers, or found in the Abandoned Mine.
The steel longsword is also needed for some easy clue scroll emote clues. It is tradeable and noteable, so it is easy to carry, sell, or share with other players.
