Description
The uncut red topaz is a semi-precious gem in Old School RuneScape. It is a members-only item that is used to train the Crafting skill. Players with level 16 Crafting can cut it with a chisel to make a red topaz. A successful cut gives 25 Crafting experience. A failed cut leaves a crushed gem and gives 6.3 experience.
This gem has more uses than just training. Three uncut red topaz can be given to Safta Doc, along with a gout tuber and 1,200 trading sticks, to get a red topaz machete.
Finding these gems in the game takes work. Players mine them from gem rocks in Shilo Village after finishing the Shilo Village quest, or in the Lunar Isle mine after Lunar Diplomacy. They can also come from hard Gnome Restaurant deliveries, Dorgesh-Kaan Rich Chests, the Wise Old Man's tasks, and other rare sources.
The uncut red topaz is tradeable and noteable, so it is easy to store and move. It cannot be equipped and does not stack. It weighs only 0.003 kg, so carrying a few of them is never a problem.
