Red topaz is a semi-precious gem in Old School RuneScape. It is used mainly for training Crafting. You can cut it from an uncut red topaz with a chisel at level 16 Crafting for 25 experience. A failed cut turns the gem into a crushed gem and gives 6.3 experience.
Red topaz can be made into jewellery at a furnace with a silver bar and the right mould. You can craft a topaz ring at level 16, a topaz necklace at level 32, a topaz bracelet at level 38, and a topaz amulet at level 45.
With level 49 Magic, the Lvl-3 Enchant spell turns this jewellery into useful items. These include Efaritay's aid, the necklace of faith, the bracelet of slaughter, and the burning amulet.
Red topaz also works for Fletching. At level 48, one gem makes 12 topaz bolt tips and gives 4 experience. You can also trade 3 red topaz, a gout tuber, and 1,200 trading sticks to Safta Doc for a red topaz machete. This gem is a solid pick for players who want to level Crafting, Fletching, or Magic.
