Buy OSRS Venator shard

Description

The Venator shard is a members-only item in Old School RuneScape. It drops from the Phantom Muspah, a level 741 boss, at a rate of 1 in 100. It can also come from a Frozen cache at a rate of 1 in 500.

Players want this shard for one main reason. Five shards combine into the Venator bow. You need all five, and the process cannot be undone. Trying to combine fewer than five will not work.

The shard has a second use. You can break one down with a pestle and mortar to get 50,000 ancient essence. This gives players a choice between building the bow or getting essence.

The Venator shard is tradeable on the Grand Exchange, so buying shards is a fast way to skip the boss grind. It is stackable and weighs nothing, so it takes up little space in your bank or inventory. It cannot be equipped or noted.

Fun fact: when the item was first polled, it was called the Bloodletter shard. The real name was kept secret until the Winter Summit 2022 to hide the Zarosian theme of the quest rewards.
