Aetherium alloy is an Archaeology material in RuneScape 3. It is an alloy of elementally charged metals with a little something extra. You need level 85 Archaeology to dig it up. It comes from material caches at the Stormguard Citadel and Empyrean Citadel excavation sites. A higher Archaeology level and a better mattock let you gather it faster.
Players want aetherium alloy because it restores many artefacts. These include the Blackfire lance, Chuluu stone, Golem heart, Prototype godbow, Prototype godstaff, Prototype godsword, Spear of Annihilation, Spherical astrolabe, and Talon-3 razor wing. Buying the alloy saves hours of digging at material caches.
Aetherium alloy is tradeable and noteable, and it fits in the material storage container. It can also be disassembled for Simple parts or Crafted parts, with a special chance of Historic or Classic components.
The alloy has a fun history in the game. During the God Wars, an Aviansie inventor codenamed Howl made it by blending Stormguard steel, hellfire metal, warforged bronze, and Everlight silvthril, using quintessence as a catalyst. Howl used it in many creations, including the legendary godsword.
