Description

Apex hide chaps +3 is an upgraded pair of apex hide chaps in RuneScape 3. Apex hide chaps are tier 85 non-degradable ranged tank armour for the legs slot. This version has been upgraded three times with extra apex leather, which raises its armour value above the base pair. You need level 99 Ranged to wear it. It is a members-only item.

The base chaps give 479.1 armour, a 1275 life points bonus, 1.98% PvM damage reduction, and 5.1975% PvP damage reduction. The full upgrade path runs from +1 to +5 and takes the armour from tier 85 up to tier 90, with the armour value growing from 479.1 to 540.7. Each upgrade step needs twice as much apex leather as the one before it.

Apex hide comes from Havenhythe Big Game Hunter encounters and is tanned into apex leather. The chaps are tradeable, equipable, noteable, and disassemblable, and they can be reclaimed on death. Since the armour never degrades, there are no repair costs. This makes the chaps a strong pick for ranged tanks who want lasting leg armour with high defence and a big life points boost.
