Description

The Apex hide chaps + 4 are ranged tank armour for the legs slot in RuneScape 3. This pair has been upgraded four times with extra apex leather, so it gives more armour and life points than the base version. The base chaps start at tier 85, and each upgrade pushes the armour closer to tier 90.

You need level 85 Ranged and level 85 Armour to wear them. The chaps never degrade, so there is no repair cost. They give bonus life points and reduce the damage you take from both monsters and other players. This makes them a strong pick for players who want to tank hits while using ranged attacks.

Apex hide armour is made through the tailoring process at level 100 Crafting. The hides come from Big Game Hunter in Havenhythe, a continent added to the game on 23 March 2026. The full set has five pieces: cowl, body, chaps, vambraces, and boots.

The chaps are a members item. They are tradeable and can be noted, so they are easy to move and store. One more upgrade with apex leather takes them to the + 5 version.
