Barley seeds let you grow barley in RuneScape 3. You plant them in a hops patch, and you only need level 3 Farming. This makes them a great pick for new players who want to train Farming early.

Each patch takes 4 seeds. Planting gives 8.5 Farming XP, and each harvest gives 9.5 XP. The crop grows in 40 minutes, moving through 4 stages of 10 minutes each. A fully grown patch has at least 3 harvest lives, and better compost adds more. You can also pay a nearby gardener 3 buckets of compost to protect your crop while it grows.

Your chance to keep a harvest life gets better as your Farming level goes up. Magic secateurs help too. There is also a small chance to get Harmony moss when you harvest.
