Black dragon leather is a piece of prepared black dragonhide in RuneScape 3. It is used in the Crafting skill to make black dragonhide armour. Each piece of leather gives 86 Crafting experience when you turn it into armour.
Members with level 60 Crafting can use a needle and thread to make many items from this leather. One leather makes black dragonhide boots or vambraces. Two leathers make chaps or a coif. Three leathers make a body. Four leathers make a shield.
Players can make this leather by giving a black dragonhide and 20 coins to a tanner. Tanners are found in Al Kharid, Varrock, Taverley, Canifis, Prifddinas, Wendlewick, the Ranging Guild, and the Crafting Guild. The Make Leather spell at level 83 Magic also works. Buying the leather skips this step and saves time.
Black dragon leather can also be disassembled for Invention. It gives Simple parts most of the time and Crafted parts the rest of the time. This makes it useful for training Crafting fast or for gathering parts. It is a smart pick for players who want to level up without hunting dragonhides themselves.
