Description
Thread is a crafting item in RuneScape 3. Players use it with a needle to make weapons and armour from hides and other materials. It is a key supply for anyone training the Crafting skill with leather.
Each spool of thread has five uses before it runs out. Hard leather items are the one exception, since those spools last for four uses. A use counts each crafting action, not each hide. Making vambraces from one hide uses the same amount of thread as making chaps from two hides.
Thread is tradeable and stackable, and it weighs nothing. That means players can hold large stacks in one backpack slot without slowing down. It cannot be worn. Players who wear the Crafting cape or the Crafting master cape do not need thread in their backpack at all when crafting.
Thread can also be disassembled for Invention. It gives mostly Simple parts and, on rare occasions, Variable components. Stocking up on thread saves time, since players will not need to stop training to buy more. It is a simple item, but leather crafting does not work without it.
