Description

The Codex of Lost Knowledge is a rare item in RuneScape 3. It is a reward dropped by Zamorak, Lord of Chaos, a level 14,000 boss. It drops in both Normal mode and Hard mode. The codex holds teachings that help improve combat stances.

This item is tradeable and can be noted. It cannot be equipped. Players want it because it can be restored into powerful ability codices. With level 85 Invention, you can restore it using Cywir components. It takes 20 Cywir components to make a tradeable codex or 10 components to make an untradeable one. Each restoration also gives 10,000 Invention experience.

Restoring the codex lets you create the Greater Sunshine ability codex or the Greater Death's Swiftness ability codex. Greater Sunshine is a Magic ability. Greater Death's Swiftness is a Ranged ability. These are strong upgrades for high-level combat.

If you die outside a dangerous area, the codex is always kept. The item shows an Attack icon, but it only unlocks Magic and Ranged abilities. Grab a Codex of Lost Knowledge to unlock some of the best damage-boosting abilities in the game.
