The Dragon mattock is a strong Archaeology tool in RuneScape 3. It needs level 60 Archaeology to use. It digs with a Precision of 50 and a Focus of 4. That is the same digging power as the necronium mattock, which needs level 70. So this tool lets players dig faster at a lower level.
This mattock is rare. It drops from an ancient casket at a rate of 1 in 100, or from skinning any dinosaur in Big Game Hunter at a rate of 1 in 101.
Players want the Dragon mattock because it is a key part of better tools. It can be turned into a crystal mattock with 4,000 harmonic dust at Lady Ithell. It can also become an Imcando mattock at an Imcando anvil with four pieces of imcando metal. Two dragon mattocks are needed in total to make the Mattock of Time and Space, one of the best digging tools in the game.
The Dragon mattock can be augmented with an Augmentor. It can also be wielded as a melee weapon, added to the tool belt, traded, lent, noted, and disassembled. It has no stat requirements to hold.
