Description

Kalphite essence is a members-only item in RuneScape 3. It is essence extracted from drygore weapons. Players use it to make the masterwork 2h sword, one of the top melee weapons in the game.

The essence is made by breaking down an undyed and intact drygore weapon at a Dragonkin anvil. This needs level 99 Smithing. New, partly degraded, and augmented drygore weapons all work. Any weapon gives 2 units of essence. A masterwork 2h sword needs 4 units in total, so it takes two drygore weapons to get enough. Kalphite defenders, reprisers, and rebounders cannot be broken down into essence.

Kalphite essence has a second use as well. With level 110 Smithing, players can combine it with primal bars and demonic essence at an anvil to make a masterwork sword trim.

The item is tradeable and noteable, but it does not stack. It cannot be disassembled or alchemised. Buying kalphite essence lets players skip hunting for drygore weapon drops from the Kalphite King. It is a simple way to move faster toward crafting the masterwork 2h sword.
