This bow is a free-to-play item, so any player can use it. It is tradeable, lendable, and noteable. It was once the best shortbow on free-to-play worlds before yew and magic shortbows became free.

Players can also make this bow with the Fletching skill at level 50. You cut an unstrung maple shortbow from maple logs for 50 experience, then string it with a bowstring for another 50 experience. A fungal bowstring also works. Stringing many bows at once is a fast way to train, and it can give around 126,000 Fletching experience per hour.
