Description

The orange feather is a Hunter item in RuneScape 3. It is a fairly plain feather with a bright orange color. Players get orange feathers from copper longtail birds in the Piscatoris Hunter area. Catching these birds takes level 9 Hunter and at least one bird snare. Pheasants in McGrubor's Wood also drop orange feathers.

Orange feathers work with the Fletching skill. Like all colored feathers from Hunter, they can replace regular white feathers when making bolts and arrows. The finished bolts and arrows still come out with white feathers and have no extra effects, so this is a handy way to use up spare feathers.

Crafters can also use them for a fun outfit piece. Adding 20 orange feathers to a studded leather coif makes an orange feather headdress. This needs level 79 Crafting.

Players who do not want their orange feathers can sell them at the Fancy Dress Shop in Varrock for 4 coins each. These feathers used to be called brown feathers. They were renamed to match the color of the copper longtail birds that drop them.
