Description
The RS3 potato seed is the first seed players can grow with the Farming skill. It only needs Farming level 1, so it is a great pick for new players and anyone training the skill from the start.
Plant three potato seeds together in an allotment patch to grow potatoes. The crop takes 40 minutes to grow, with four stages of 10 minutes each. Planting gives 8 Farming XP, and each raw potato harvested gives 9 more. Each patch gives at least 3 potatoes, and using compost adds extra harvest lives, up to 6 with ultracompost.
A nearby gardener will watch over the growing potatoes for 2 buckets of compost per patch. Planting marigolds or white lilies nearby also stops the potato plants from getting diseased.
Potato seeds are stackable and weigh nothing, so they take up very little space in the bank or inventory. They are a simple, low-cost way to earn early Farming XP and gather raw potatoes for cooking. For players starting the Farming skill in RuneScape 3, potato seeds are the natural first step.
