The red salamander is a two-handed ranged weapon in RuneScape 3. It is the second strongest salamander in the game. You need level 60 Ranged to wield it.

This weapon has a tier of 60, ability damage of 864, and accuracy of 1132. It uses a bolts attack style with a range of 7. It fires tarromin tar as ammunition, which players can make at 39 Herblore by mixing a clean tarromin with swamp tar. Each auto-attack uses up one tarromin tar.

The red salamander is a cheap alternative to the dragon 2h crossbow. It gives players a low-cost way to fight at tier 60 without spending a lot on gear.

In the game, red salamanders are caught with the Hunter skill at level 59. Players catch them in the Ourania Hunter area with a small fishing net and a rope set on a young tree. Catching one also completes a task in the hard Ardougne achievements.

The item weighs 4 kg. It is tradeable, equipable, and noteable. It can also be disassembled for parts like connector parts, tensile parts, and dextrous components.
