Description
The shortbow is a basic Ranged weapon in RuneScape 3. It fires arrows and has no requirements to equip, so any player can use it. It has an accuracy of 150 and an attack range of 7 spaces. It fills the two-handed weapon slot and attacks at a fast speed of 3.0 seconds.
Shortbows fire faster than shieldbows and give a higher damage bonus. The trade-off is that they give no armour or defensive bonus at all.
Skill pures often like this bow. If no arrows are equipped, the bow cannot deal damage. That means a player will not gain combat experience by mistake.
The shortbow is also useful for training Fletching and Invention. It can be made at level 1 Fletching by cutting an unstrung shortbow from logs and stringing it with a bowstring. It can also be taken apart with Invention. It gives stave parts, flexible parts, tensile parts, and a small chance at precise or dextrous components.
The shortbow is tradeable, noteable, and light to carry at 1.36 kg. It is always kept on death outside dangerous areas, so it is a safe and simple pick for new players.
