The white candle is a Firemaking item in RuneScape 3. Light it with a tinderbox to turn it into a lit candle. A lit candle is a basic light source. It lets you explore dark places like the Lumbridge Cellar cave. Carry at least three lit candles in your backpack for the brightest light. One lit candle is enough to keep skittering insects from attacking you.

Candles have many other uses. You need them for quests like Enlightened Journey and Enakhra's Lament. After Enlightened Journey, you can use them to make origami balloons. They also help restore hallowed lanterns and work as a material in some Construction Contracts.

Be careful in the Lumbridge Swamp Caves. A lit candle can ignite swamp gas in two areas there. The blast puts out your candle and deals damage. You can put the candle in an empty candle lantern to stay safe. You can also extinguish a candle with the Extinguish or Drop option. A candle must be put out before it can be traded.

This small, light item weighs only 0.028 kg, so it takes up little space on your travels.
