Description

The black salamander is a two-handed weapon in Old School RuneScape. You need level 70 Attack, Magic, and Ranged to wield it. It uses harralander tar as ammo. It is a live creature, so if you die without protecting it, it will run away.

This weapon has three attack styles. Scorch is a slash attack that trains Strength. Flare is a ranged attack that trains Ranged and attacks faster. Blaze is a magic attack that trains Magic. Each style uses its own attack bonus. The strength bonus is 71, the same as a dragon longsword. In ranged mode, harralander tar has the same ranged strength as rune arrows.

All three styles work only at melee range. Even so, you can attack over fences and hit enemies on diagonal squares, so safespotting still works. The black salamander can also hit aviansies like Kree'arra at melee range, which normal melee weapons cannot do. It can slash webs too.

Players catch black salamanders with level 67 Hunter in the Wilderness near the Chaos Temple. It can also come from an Elite Treasure Trail. Buying one skips the trip into the Wilderness.
