Description

The drift net is an item in Old School RuneScape. It is used to catch fish shoals in the drift net fishing activity. This activity takes place in the underwater area of Fossil Island. You need level 44 Hunter and level 47 Fishing to take part, and both skills gain experience.

You set up drift nets on anchor points underwater. Then you chase fish shoals into them. Each shoal fills a net by 10 percent, so one net can hold 10 shoals. When you harvest a net, the net is destroyed and you collect your rewards. Rewards can include fish, numulites, fossils, and medium clue bottles. Players use between 80 and 110 nets per hour, so a good supply keeps your training going.

At level 70 in both skills, this method can give up to 93,000 Fishing experience and 121,000 Hunter experience per hour. Higher Fishing levels let you catch better fish, up to raw sharks, sea turtles, and manta rays.

Drift nets are tradeable and can be noted. Each net weighs 1 kg. They can also be made on a loom with two jute fibres at level 26 Crafting.
