The harpoon is a fishing tool in Old School RuneScape. Players use it to catch tuna, swordfish, and sharks. Sharks are one of the best and most common healing foods in the game, so a harpoon is a key tool for high level fishing.

You need level 35 Fishing to catch tuna, level 50 for swordfish, and level 76 for sharks. Swordfish is the highest healing fish on free to play worlds, and free players can harpoon at Musa Point on Karamja. Members can fish with a harpoon at Catherby, Miscellania, Piscarillius, and the Fishing Guild.

A harpoon works well for both money making and training. Harpoon fishing at Musa Point gives around 40k experience per hour. The 2-tick method at Piscarillius offers some of the fastest fishing experience in the game, reaching up to 135k per hour with a crystal harpoon. For a more relaxed option, the Fishing Guild gives an invisible +7 boost to your Fishing level, so you catch fish faster and more often.
